Remembering the good times

written by Daniel Senie

I got a phone call from Angela to my cell phone, Stephen had passed away while on an outing skiing in the mountains. This stopped me cold. Just a few months before, Stephen, Angela, Faith and I had been vacationing together on the island of Bonaire. Faith and I had just returned from a dive trip to Grand Cayman a day before, and had been thinking about Stephen and Angela while there. Now he was gone.

Angela asked that we remember the good times. This web page is dedicated to those memories. I've put in some pictures of places and events that we shared. There are some good stories that go with them, and I'll write them as I can.

Here's a picture of Stephen helping with a PADI Open Water scuba course. This is from September 1999. We were at Mirror Lake at Devens, MA. Faith and I were there for a cleanup dive and for our Rescue Diver course.Stephen was our "victim" for that course.

This picture needs an explanation. Stephen and Angela were in town after a trip to Bonaire. They'd stopped by for dinner after an evening in the pool trying out new dive gear as part of Northeast Scuba's grand reopening in new quarters. Stephen had nodded off after eating, still holding his bowl. Here you can see Faith replaced the bowl with a stuffed mouse, and Stephen is just waking up to that fact.
