In our household, Amateur Radio is a popular pastime. Amateur Radio, also known as Ham Radio (nobody really knows why), is nearly as old as radio itself.

Licensed Radio Amateurs are idenitified by their call letters. My call is N1JEB. These callsigns are unique in the world. The first letter or letters of callsigns indicate the country to which the call belongs. N, K, W, and AA through AL belong to the United States of America.

From January of 1994 until December of 1995, I held the office of Section Manager for the Western Massachusetts Section of the American Radio Relay League.

Locally, I can often be found on the 145.41 Repeater in Harvard, Massachusetts. A real community effort resulted in this repeater's resurrection. The group worked hard digging holes for the tower, building up the electronics, pounding in ground rods, etc. The hard work paid off, as we've now got a great repeater on the air!
